Getting Here

Burgas is the closest airport to the wedding venue, though Sofia is also a good option if you plan to spend time in the capital. Guests travelling from outside Europe will typically connect through a major European hub before arriving in Bulgaria.

Burgas Airport (BOJ)

  • Closest airport with direct flights to many European cities including London, Manchester, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Dublin.
  • Often served by low-cost airlines such as Wizz Air, Ryanair, and EasyJet.
  • Distance: ~1 hour from the resort.
  • Transport to venue: Taxi (~€60-80), car rental, or ride-share with other guests.

Sofia Airport (SOF)

  • Bulgaria's main international airport with the most flight options.
  • A good choice if you would like to spend time in Sofia before the wedding.
  • Bulgaria Air provides the only direct link between Sofia and Burgas, with a limited schedule of just three flights per week (Mon, Wed, Fri). This 45-minute service departs Sofia at 20:45 and arrives at 21:35.
  • Transport to venue: Approximately 4 hour drive.
  • Guest Shuttle: We are planning a shuttle to the coast departing Friday morning, June 26th. Please include your flight details in the RSVP form.

Istanbul Airport (IST)

  • Major international hub with many long-haul flights.
  • Important: There are typically no direct flights from Istanbul to Burgas. Would require a connection to Sofia and then continue to the coast, or drive across the border.
  • Border Crossing: Driving from Istanbul requires crossing the Turkey–Bulgaria border. Wait times can vary during the summer season. If you are considering this, please let us know in advance.
  • Note: We do not recommend this route for Saturday arrivals.

Rental Car

  • Ideal if you want flexibility or plan to explore. We recommend checking your provider's requirements in advance, including whether an International Driving Permit (IDP) is needed, automatic drive availability, and insurance coverage.

Shuttle & Logistics

  • To help everyone get to the coast, we are planning two primary guest shuttles between Sofia and Lozenets. If you would like to join us, we recommend selecting flights that align with these windows:
  • Sofia to Lozenets: Departing Friday morning, June 26th.
  • Lozenets to Sofia: Departing the venue on Sunday, June 28th by noon.
  • Burgas Arrival: If your arrival times line up with other guests, we may be able to coordinate a shared transfer or ride-share.
  • Flight Details: Please include your arrival and departure flight numbers and times in the RSVP form. Having everyone's info in one place helps us stay organized and coordinate shared rides for those interested.

Accommodation

We strongly recommend booking as early as you can. Late June is high season on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, and availability fills up quickly.

Oasis Resort Lozenets

We suggest staying on-site with easy access to the beach and pool. We recommend the Oasis Standard rooms over the Maltese Castle rooms. Both are part of the same resort, but the Maltese Castle carries a premium for being slightly closer to the sea.

Room Type Rates (from)
Studio – Oasis Standard€96 / night
2-Bedroom Apartment Standard€174 / night
Double Room – Maltese Castle (sea view)€155 / night
1-Bedroom Apartment Premium (sea view)€172 / night

To book, contact the resort directly and mention our wedding for the special rate: booking@oasis-bg.com · +359 884 79 79 00

Oasis Beach Club

Oasis Beach Club sits right next to Oasis Resort and shares the same stretch of beach. It has its own pools, spa, and restaurant, while still being only a short walk from the wedding venue on the beach.

Other options

For guests who prefer to arrange their own accommodation, a range of hotels, guesthouses, and apartments in Lozenets and the surrounding area are available via Booking.com.

Things To Do

If you have extra time in Bulgaria, we highly recommend exploring. Here are a few of our favourite spots to get you started.

Sofia

Sofia is compact, green, and best explored on foot. For the best local atmosphere, head to the area near Doctor's Garden and Assen Zlatarov Street for hidden cafes and bars.

Eat & Drink

  • Raketa Rakia Bar: Socialist-era nostalgia with modern Bulgarian classics and an extensive rakia list.
  • Made in Blue: Creative, seasonal dishes in a beautiful, eclectic blue house with a garden.
  • Egur Egur: Authentic and cosy Armenian cuisine, a local favourite for over a decade.
  • Mediterraneo: A quiet "hidden gem" serving excellent Italian in a classic neighbourhood setting.
  • Atelier: Stylish, contemporary Bulgarian dishes inspired by art and music.

Frequently Asked Questions

If something isn't covered here, please get in touch directly or leave a note in the RSVP form.

What is the dress code?

Festive / Summer Formal. Think elegant seaside attire – linen suits, light blazers, or breezy midi and maxi dresses. Since the ceremony will start on the beach, we recommend comfortable yet smart footwear.

What will the weather be like and what should I pack?

Late June on the Black Sea is typically warm and sunny (25–30°C / 77–86°F) with pleasant evenings. Sofia can be slightly hotter (28–33°C / 82–91°F). Along with your wedding attire, pack light summer clothes, a bathing suit for the pools/beach, and plenty of sunscreen. A light layer for the evening is worth packing as it can get windy and chilly after dark.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Both! Our ceremony is on the beach, and the dinner and dancing will be held at a sheltered, open-air restaurant within the resort. You'll be covered and comfortable while still enjoying the sea breeze.

Do I need a visa?

Bulgaria is a member of the Schengen Area. EU citizens enter freely; US and UK guests do not need a visa for short stays. However, your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure (though 6 months is safer) and must have been issued within the last 10 years.

What currency is used and are cards accepted?

Bulgaria officially adopted the Euro (€) in 2026. Credit and debit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are widely accepted at the resort and in Lozenets. However, it is always helpful to have some cash for smaller local shops or bars.

Is English widely spoken?

Yes. While Bulgarian is the local language, English is widely spoken in the resort, hotels, and most restaurants in Lozenets and Sofia.

Is there a wedding registry?

Your presence in Bulgaria is truly the best gift we could ask for, especially given the time and travel involved. We have chosen not to include a formal registry, having you with us is more than enough.

As we will be relocating to London shortly after the wedding, we are unable to accommodate physical gifts. If you would like to follow the Bulgarian tradition of bringing a card or envelope, a designated area will be available at the venue. Please do not feel any obligation, we are just happy to have you there!

How do I stay updated on logistics?

Provide your mobile number in the RSVP form to be added to our wedding WhatsApp group. We will use this for real-time travel tips, shuttle coordination, and weekend updates.
